Why give now?
With you along side us, we can finish the rough cut of the documentary and the final filming in Bangladesh. From there, we aim to complete post-production and start submitting THREADS to festivals! We believe that this unique and inspirational story of art and human spirit needs to be told. Surayia is almost 80 years old and we would like her to be able to enjoy the film along with audiences worldwide. The clock is ticking…
Every dollar helps bring the goal closer!
From $5 for a crew meal in Dhaka to $50,000 to allow us to do more film making and less fundraising, we appreciate your support in any amount! Your donated airline bonus points help, too!
These are our top priorities for which we aim to raise $50,000:
- $15,000 pays for film editing
- $10,000 (BDT 800,000) covers production services, crew and equipment for filming in Bangladesh, as well as original music and recording costs
- $10,000 pays for additional post-production services including color correction
- $5,000 pays for sound engineering
- $6,000 (or your donation of frequent flyer miles) makes possible travel to do final work in Bangladesh
- $3,000 allows an award-winning story consultant to work along side us
- $1,000 pays for transcription and translation of film footage

Many of you have already contributed to our work. Thank you for joining us and for making a difference.
The International Documentary Association (IDA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is the fiscal sponsor for Threads, and all contributions to the film made through IDA are tax-deductible for U.S. persons to the full extent provided by law. Employers may match contributions as well. Donations from non-U.S. persons are vital to the completion of the film, but are not tax-deductible, although we are exploring ways in which Canadian residents might be able to make a deductible contribution through a Canadian non-profit.
