Why give now?
Threads is a unique and inspirational documentary film of a Bangladeshi Muslim woman who overcame physical, economic and social obstacles to liberate herself and hundreds of other women by creating timeless works of art.
With you along side us, we can finish the first cuts of the documentary and the final filming in Bangladesh in early 2012. From there, we aim to complete post-production in spring 2012 and start submitting THREADS to festivals!
We believe that this unique and inspirational story of art and human spirit needs to be told. Surayia is almost 80 years old and we would like her to be able to enjoy the film along with audiences worldwide. The clock is ticking…
We’re about halfway through filming and have raised $50,000 in donations and in-kind contributions so far. We are fully committed to this project. Since the conception of the documentary, others have joined us in this journey by volunteering their talent and time — filmmakers, photographers, printers, graphic artists, web designers, transcribers, friends!
We now need a community of people to come together in order to help us take the next steps. Join us!
These are our top five priorities for which we aim to raise $34,000:
$15,000 pays for film editing
$ 9,000 (BDT 630,000) covers production services, crew and equipment for filming in Bangladesh
$ 6,000 (or your donation of frequent flyer miles) makes possible travel to the film shoot in Bangladesh
$ 3,000 allows an award-winning story consultant to work along side us
$ 1,000 pays for transcription and translation of film footage
Every dollar counts!
From $5 for a crew meal in Dhaka to $34,000 to allow us to do more filmmaking and less fundraising, we appreciate your support in any amount!
Please sign up for our quarterly newsletter and regular blogs (on the left side of this page) so we can keep you posted on our progress.
And remember to tell a friend! Spread the word on social media or through a phone call to someone who might be interested.
